Elpis Foundation Cluj completed one of its objectives in the area of education through the birth of Elpis Kindergarten, as a ministry of its branch in Dej and as an expression of hope towards our children. In Greek <Elpis> means hope.  The Elpis Kindergarten came to life in the year of 2000.

The Institution is affiliated to International Association of Christian Schools.

The Elpis Kindergarten, through the staff, through its educational offerings and through open collaboration with the parents, wants to offer a viable educational alternative that is good for the community. The foundation of the kindergarten's vision is to increase the quality of life in the community. Seen as a healthy extension of the family, and as an indispensable step to school, Elpis Kindergarten participates for the general purpose of mental, spiritual, moral and esthetic growth of the children.

Elpis Kindergarten is located at str. Carpati nr. 6 Dej, in the central area of Dej, a in a newly built building, property of Elpis. The three classrooms are specially designed for the preschool activities with large, modern bathrooms, special rooms for storing the teaching equipment, and an outdoor playground. The Kindergarten also has multimedia equipment such as projectors, TV set, video player, computers, cassette players and specific teaching materials. The central heating comes from our own heater, that also provides warm running water.

In the academic year 2004 – 2005 the educational program includes three age groups. Each group is coordinated by a trained educator. There are 60 children enrolled in the program and their ages range between 2 and 5-7 years old.

Fees:

550,000 Romanian LEI per month ($20r/child) for short program
1,500,000 Romanian LEI for long pogramm per child per month($53.50)
200,000 Romanian LEI for transportation/child/month

Elpis Foundation is the sponsor of the educational activities provided by Elpis Kindergarten, covering all the expenses, such as maintenance, salaries, so on. The fees are directed towards improving the teaching materials base and for developing optional modules of teaching.

1. Objectives

   1. For the children to discover their own identities and to have a positive image about themselves

   2. To improve the interaction between children and between them and adults; to interact with the environment and to explore it

   3. To increase the physical and mental potential of every child, according to the individual growing rhythms or emotional needs, and the fundamental need of a child - to play.

   4. Elpis Kindergarten's primary objective is the integration of Christian concepts about the world and life.

   5. Applying a program that will guarantee easy integration of children in the first grade at school.
